"Deborah Krueger Memorial Scholarship Program”
2009: We have renamed our scholarship program in honor of our friend and colleague who was taken from us too soon. Deborah was very supportive of AAHAM and the education it provides to its members; renaming it is a great tribute to her. Purpose:The purpose of the Wisconsin Chapter Scholarship Program is to encourage local AAHAM member participation in educational activities such as attendance at seminars, participation on AAHAM committees, and studying for and acquiring either technical or professional certification through the AAHAM certification program.
Shawn K. Gretz
Sales and Marketing Manager, Americollect:
As I look out my window I see a blanket of white covering the ground. It is clean and bright and there are no tracks in it. It is the first snow fall of the year. It reminds me of what we as the Revenue Cycle Co-op/AAHAM Wisconsin have in front of us; an opportunity to start new tracks as one organization forming from four (AAHAM, WAHAM, WCCMA, and WMCA).
The great news is that many of us have been through snow before. We know what works and doesn’t work as organizations. We are ready to start making those tracks. Our goal of the Revenue Cycle Co-op will be to provide professional development of our members through conferences, newsletters, professional certification, and networking. We will offer numerous opportunities for increasing the skills and knowledge that are necessary to function effectively in today’s revenue cycle environment.
Below are some steps/tracks that we have already taken:
Name: You may or may not have noticed that I have been using two names: 1.Revenue Cycle Co-op and 2. AAHAM for our organization. There is a reason for that. The Revenue Cycle Co-op is a known name that started 3 years ago with the Joint conferences first held at the Wilderness Resort and Waterpark in Wisconsin Dells. Because our members know the Revenue Cycle Co-op we want to keep that name as we go forward. AAHAM (American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management) is also a nationally known organization that provides some great certifications to our members and benefits to the board operationally. Because of these benefits we wanted to keep both. Luckily for us AAHAM National has agreed to allow us to keep Revenue Cycle Co-op for two years as we rebrand to AAHAM Wisconsin the Revenue Cycle Co-op Chapter. So look for both names in the coming years and remember that we will be switching over to AAHAM Wisconsin by 2015.
Conferences: Our plan is to have two conferences Revenue Cycle Co-op/AAHAM Wisconsin per year. Mark your calendars for the first week of May and October.
This year we will be hosting our three day conference May 8-10 at the Wilderness Resort and Waterpark, Wisconsin Dells, WI. October 3-4 will be our Fall Conference held at the Holiday Inn, Stevens Point, WI. On even years we will also be participating in the MEGA Conference.
Website/Email Communication: Our new combined website is www.aaham-wi.org. Please bookmark this! Our goal is to send out a monthly email to all members to keep you up-to-date on what is happening.
Webinars: In 2013 we hope to host our first webinars.
Certification: We are offering multiple levels of certifications from AAHAM and also NAHAM. We have a team of individuals who have taken the exam and passed them. We want to help our members become certified so they can ask their bosses for a raise!
Before we end… I would like to thank the steering committee and a few others that helped us get to this point: Kathy Olszewski, Scott Rogers, Kaye Prieve, Jennifer Tarantino, Patty Werdin, Dawn Cook, Pat Hirsch, Todd Nova, and Paula Hoerter. Thank you for donating your time and energy getting us to one organization.
I would like to welcome the new Officers and Board to the 2013 Revenue Cycle Co-op/AAHAM Wisconsin chapter. It is time to make some new tracks! Oh, and we could always use additional feet helping us make these new tracks, so feel free to email us at email@example.com!
